2/19/2023 0 Comments Mac could not unmount diskI have checked the iBook HD, and I have ownership and permissions to read & write. Once in a while I get 'Disk Management Tool requires that you type in your password', which I do. I have tried this procedure in every way conceivable. I also get: 'Mac iBook HD could not be unmounted make sure all applications and files are closed on this disk.' A is the boot volume, and B and C are mounted (and unmountable). When I try to verify my HD, it says 'Verify volume failed with error: could not unmount disk'. It asked me to choose a volume, so I chose 'Mac iBook HD', which is shown as a mounted volume. I have an external drive, with 3 partitions, A, B, and C.Ī and B are bootable. I also tried to start up with the Apple Hardware Test CD, with the same result of getting stuck at opening screen. Status: Verified It gives me the instructions: 'to repair your startup disk, start up from your Mac OS X Install disc, then choose Utilities>Disk Utility' I tried to do that with the original install disc (starting with the C key pressed), but no luck (I think maybe because it's 10.3?), but I couldn't get past the opening screen. ,1) Mac iBook HD Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit 1 HFS volume checked - Volume needs repair - here's a little extra info, which says it CAN be repaired: Can Be Verified: Yes Can Be Repaired: Yes Bootable: Yes S.M.A.R.T. Clicked ‘Macintosh HD’ under ‘Internal’ - did first aid on that, and it said ‘First aid could not unmount the volume for repair. Equip is 24' iMac, Lion OS, 4 Gb mem., appx 150 gb free space on disk. Will not boot, restore, or reinstall Lion. Attempted to re-install lion but could not select HD, disk utility says 'disk is locked' & 'can not unmount disk'.
